Malek retired from The Dow Corning Corporation after 33 years. He served in a variety of areas including basic organic research, radiochemistry, Technical Service & Development work with organosilicon antimicrobial agents, Direct Process research, and technical information services. He also assisted with the building of the recycled greenhouse, a Midland ACS project, and is an Emeritus member of the American Chemical Society.
Malek also earned the Philanthropist of the Year Award from the Midland Area Community Foundation in 2015.
